Alexander Knox was blacklisted?
"Knox was never blacklisted, but suffered instead from the equally adverse practice of "greylisting" that ended his career in Hollywood. So he returned to England in the early 1950s, where he continued to work in film and as a playwright and novelist." The Encyclopedia of Canada
The fact is Knox...a Canadian....had a career that lasted nearly 50 years and was never interuprted.
Communist sympathizers arrive in DC
On October 20, 1947, the Red Scare kicks into high gear in Washington, as a Congressional committee begins investigating Communist influence in Hollywood.
In 1949 Helen Keller, Dorothy Parker, Danny
Kaye, Fredric March, John Garfield, Paul Muni and Edward G. Robinson are named
in an FBI report as Communist party members.
Trumbo got his pen
Trumbo’s novel depicting the horrors of war through a soldier who has lost his arms, legs, and all of his face, received the National Book Award as the “Most Original Book of 1939“ and sold well, but Trumbo stopped publication of the book during World War II, when Germany invaded the Soviet Union in June 1941.
