Doubtfully blacklisted: Peter Brocco

Peter Brocco, Actor. This is another suspicious claim of blacklisting. Prior to 1940, y all of his work was on stage. He had no screen credits. From 1942 through 1949 he made 23 screen appearances. He was uncredited in 9 of those films and one was a film short. Almost all of them were in 1948 and 1949.
From 1950 through 1959, he made 55 movies and 91 appearances on television. He was uncredited in 18 appearances from 1950 through 1959.
Brocco was not a leading man and prior to the 196os, working mostly as an extra. Yet, his Wikipedia page reads;
“Brocco lived for some 40 years in Laurel Canyon, in a 1920s Spanish style home on Laurel Canyon Blvd. near the Country Store. He had his ceramics studio in the ground floor, a source of income when he was blacklisted for a while during the red scare of the early 1950s.”

Just because someone’s name appeared in Red Channels, that doesn’t mean they were blacklisted. It just means there name appeared in Red Channels.
Just because a person said they were blacklisted doesn’t mean they were. Many people in Hollywood have lied about being blacklisted over the years.
If  a person was actually blacklisted…and not many were actually blacklisted….it was the studios and TV sponsors who blacklisted them. Not the United States federal government.
If a person claims the blacklist ruined their career, they should be able to prove they had a career before the blacklist.
